Where did 2010 go?

In fact where did December go? It has been a hectic month for me, and it wasn't just the work to get through, it also had something to do with having my toddler at home, and all the rain making getting out for some fun very difficult. But, having said that, I had several of the most wonderful families to photograph, and although the children were challenging it was so much fun!

In the next month or two, I'll be revamping my website, updating some of the studio packages, running a mini photography course through St Agnes Church, and of course taking awesome photographs!

One of the gorgeous boys I had the privilege to photograph!

belly dancers

as you know, if you have been following me on facebook, i photographed a belly dancing company recently. and once again i have been blown away by the personalities which have come through from the ladies and also how stunning they all looked. from the moms, to a miss india south africa finalist, i had a blast photographing them.

we did a "studio" shoot at the dress rehersal, which meant that the ladies has some time to post and get some stunning shots, and then the action shots at the show, which was awesome to watch, even if half of it was thru my lens. i tell you what, it's so much fun waiting for the perfect shot, when you catch a veil in mid air after a dancer has flung it away as part of her dance...

there will also be some exciting things happening, which i can't talk about just yet, as they are still in planning stage, but after some contemplation i have decided to keep my blog with blogger for now, and perhaps give the ksp website a make over... send me your comments or ideas if you think it's something i should do.

after the whirlwind...

did i mention i love weddings? i love everything about them, the organised chaos that precedes a beautiful day, time with awesome couples and of course the beautiful images that follow the event. i had a new assistant on friday who proved to be awesome, and there but not. the gardens, light bride and groom made the fairytale day complete, and the little babies were the cherry on the top!

while it was all fun, the hard work has started getting the pictures looking spectacular, before delivery to the jet setting couple.

saturday was as exhausting, at christmas through the home, and if you missed it, you missed out! there was a wide range to choose from, and father christmas arrived to have pictures taken with the children. some love him, some are terrified of him... i suppose you can't win them all.

the weekend was finished off with power and promise at st agnes, watching how children have been learning about the light of the earth - jesus christ and how halloween is such a dark event. it looks like they had an absolute blast this weekend, and they really learnt a lot while there.

right, i'm off now to edit those photo's!

a whirlwind weekend ahead

i've been gearing up for this weekend... very, very busy.

i had to finish the post on the pictures i took this week, so that i have free time next week to finalise the pictures for the wedding i am shooting tomorrow. the couple leave to go home to the uk on friday next week, so there is no pressure! then on saturday it's chirstmas through the home, don't miss this one guys!!! you won't be disappointed. i've acquired some very cute reindeer ears and horns for the kids to wear if you have photo's taken there. then on sunday it is the conclusion of the power and promise weekend for the kids in the upper highway area at st agnes church. they hold the weekend to give the kids an awesome alternative to the horrible halloween weekend. still not sure why south africans think they should celebrate a festival that have absolutely nothing to do with their history or heritage....

it's been a bit hectic this last week, trying to get some ideas together for the exhibition i will have a the cuppa's for cansa tea this saturday. between that i have been shooting some gorgeous babies and organising prints and canvases at the last minute, it's always fun to be at the edge :)

this weekend will be the exhibition at cuppa's and next weekend will be the exhibition at christmas thru the home. i also have a wedding to shoot on friday next week and another shoot on sunday. chocker block weekend is all i can say... can i have monday off to recover?

i also had the opportunity to photograph little georgia, and she was
quite cooperative, but also not excited about having her photo's taken.
the family shoot went very well, and i have a blast photographing them.

this weekend i was blessed to be able to take photo's of elizabeth,
steve and renske's new little baby. she is beautiful, and protested to
not having clothes one for a bit, but we got her photo. unfortunately,
at this time, i can't share this photo with you as it is for the birth
announcement that they are sending out, but i'm hoping to get many more
of her, and will share with you then :)

a busy weekend behind us

even though it was a busy weekend, it was awesome! a 2 year old's
party was the busiest i got, in terms of time / effort ratios but I
loved it none the less. ali was a beautiful model, and made for some
stunning photographs, and the cake... omw... it was beautiful! watch

i have just been to collect my canvases from being printed and i have to say that i am completely stoked with the result, and am looking forward to many more printed canvases. i always get nervous printing things, and they came out superbly.

i'm off to alison's this afternoon to hang them, and frame another print for her.

a family outing to shongweni dam, resulted in this stunner. the day was beautiful, the wind was blowing to make for some beautiful water spray and i got to have a wonderful time with my precious family.

becoming a java junkie

i am quickly learning that photographing coffee is a very rewarding past time, and filled with surprises. if you had looked at this cup of coffee which tracy was adding milk to with you naked eye, you would have said to me, that is boring, it wouldn't make a nice photo, but snap it with a camera, and voila! a stunning photograph, which makes you want to get up from reading this post and head to the kitchen to get your own fix of some yummy java.

the good news is, the java junkie coffee magazine is getting very close to being ready to launch, and we are so excited to let it loose on all of you. please head over to the blog, and post any comments or ideas of what you would like to see in the mag. we would love to hear what you have to say. now, off you go, get some coffee :o)

a busy weekend behind us

it's almost a relief to be back at monday again. it was a busy weekend again with lots of photo's behind me and sorting them out this morning.

i had the awesome opportunity of photographing a family on saturday afternoon. they had to be one of the most fun bunch of people i have come across for a while. they were really relaxed and apart from coo'ing and making funny faces to get the kids to smile (kfc seemed to be the only working solution there) they did the same for their father, who showed great restraint in the smiles department. i really had fun with them, and look forward to delivering the pictures to them, i am sure they will love them. sorry people, but you will have to wait for a sampling of the pictures after they have seen them and decided which they would like printed etc.

i also had the opportunity to hear john mcgregor speak, and to photograph him at st agnes church. he is really gifted and has a lot of life experience behind him. i'm waiting for the talks to be uploaded onto the st agnes website, as i would like to listen to them again, as i feel i didn't get all that was there to get :o)

celia davidson-wright also had the launch of her book "Letters to God - a cry for help" which i attended to photograph, and it was a blessing to be part of the occasion. i wish her all the best going forward, and thank her for the patience to pose for a picture or two.

this week has whizzed by! delivering photo's to some very happy customers, meeting with tracy about the java junkie coffee mag, and also just getting ready for the shoots ahead of me this weekend. it is also the baby expo, which i may pop down to to see what is happening, visit alison from lasting impressions and meet a fellow photographer.

it is also the mcgregor revival conference at st agnes church in kloof, which will be exciting. i will be firing off a few pictures there, for the communication team, and generally just enjoying the conference. paul will be playing his guitar there in the band, so i am sure he will enjoy it a whole heap.

i'm praying that the weather is good this weekend, especially saturday afternoon, i have a stunning family shoot lined up and they are so hoping for outside photo's, and i would hate for the weather to change the plans. wind guru seems to be confident that it won't rain, lets hope he's right :o)

busy, busy, busy

it has been a very busy week / weekend with photo shoots, visits to coffee roastaries and visiting.

this morning has been dedicated to finalising post on some pictures, getting photo's ready for delivery and making sure that admin is up to date, you can't have all fun and no admin... however, i am happy to say the admin is up to date now.

last week's shoot for paw paw productions sa went very well, and was an absolute hoot! if the kids don't love pandersnoot then i don't know what has happened to a sense of humour. i battled to take some of the photo's i was laughing so much. sandy is an awesomely talented lady, and very special.

tracy has also updated the newest in blogs to hit the bloggery, with the java junkie coffee magazine blog. i am so excited about this venture. keep your eyes peeled for the first (launch) edition as pictured on the blog.

then there were the cousins. jojo just woke up and wasn't interested in having her picture taken, until the meringues came out, and then there was all the cooperation in the world. aren't they lovely?

a morning at colombo

what an experience!!!! the guys at colombo are the most passionate guys i have met when it comes to all things coffee. i was there to photograph them making espresso, cappuccino and latte art, and it was amazing to learn all about the drinks. before the photoshoot began, kyle took us around the roastary (where they roast the beans), and we had a brief, but very interesting, history of roasting coffee beans.

they have some relics from the days when the first machines were used for roasting coffee. one looked like a huge cement mixer, although a little more rusty and caked in burnt coffee beans and not cement.
after that, and an awesome cappuccino, we got to work photographing some amazing pictures of coffee oozing through a specially designed group for the machine. it was like chocolate syrup dripping into the cup, forming the most stunning crema, which all played along very nicely for some amazing photographs.

next i was given the opportunity to taste an espresso, and learn the art, and that was an experience on it's own. it was phenomenal to "feel" the taste develop in your mouth, from sweet, to acidic and finally chocolaty and bitter all in a matter of seconds... it is definitely worth a try. now you just have to wait to see the launch edition of the java junkie coffee magazine coming soon!

sunday evening at church

a group from our church went on a mission trip to limpopo, polokwane
to be more specific, and on sunday evening they had a talk show type
setup where ant interviewed the rest of the group about the experience.
it sounds like they had an awesome time!

delivering photo's and spending time with a great friend

yesterday started out as a bit of a mad rush, i headed out the door, thinking i would be back around midday, but alas I only got home after fetching chloe.

first order of the day was to deliver 2 cd's of photo's to some amazing people. first was to my awesome friend alison, for louise, who agreed to have her beautiful belly photographed for the sake of kim swan photography :o) thank you louise. then it was off to see darren, and drop of the photo's i took from his rocking 80's birthday party, which was a great surprise for him! then i was meant to go to ushaka to collect a prize then shopping for some supplies then to my special friend tracy, but it all got mixed up and i stopped at tracy first! it was an awesome morning, brainstorming, and getting ideas for getting out there, and improving my business. thank you trace for that, and i appreciate the time.

next week trace and i will be making a photo or two, for the publication we are working on java junkie coffee mag, which is awesome! i'm looking forward to the challenge going forward, and am expecting awesome things!!!!

I have decided that I will try and post a photo a day to keep this blog ticking over nicely, and hoping that it will create some interest. I think it will be a fun way to find at least something small to photograph every day.

Today's photo was of my mother in law when Kath and I decided we needed to get her into the swing of Facebook and set up a profile for her.

Not bad for a point and shoot! Had Kath in the back ground making funny faces at her to get her to laugh, she was pulling funny faces when we asked her to smile :)
